*Thread* If Islington wonders why some see it as weird and nasty, it need look no further than its most famous political denizen, Corbyn. For more education, turn to Islington Labour councillor Matt Nathan, elected to the council in 2018. Let's start with hate and violence. 1/12 Image
Nathan would have you believe he stands against hatred. No, he lives it. His Twitter account bursts with vulgarity, aggression and abuse. Guillotines galore! 2/12
In May, he called for violent death for the “ruling class”: “Now that 60,000 of us have died needlessly to protect the economic model of the ruling class I can publicly lobby for their bloody end. Rejoice.” 3/12 Image
His thoughts turn to guillotines in other Tweets.

In May, he wrote “It’s unlabour not to have spent lockdown crafting your own guillotine.”

In March, when panic buying was emptying supermarket shelves, he wrote: “I’ll make guillotines if there’s a shortage.” 4/12 ImageImage
Nathan is very fired up because, you know, Tories. They are “bent and literally kill people”. “Fuck.”

#StayAlert Tories are in power and they will straight up fucking kill you if there’s money in it. Join a union.” 5/12 ImageImage
Nathan also has violent thoughts about some people in his own party. That “rancid cabal” - “preferably their fucking heads on sticks. #lowerthanvermin”. 6/12 Image
Nathan’s “kinder, gentler” goes right to the top of his party. Keir Starmer is “the pearl clutchers glorious leader”. Nice and simple now - “Fuck it. Sir Basic is fucking shite.” Mind that “sweet sweet forensic juice” as you join “class war”. 7/12 ImageImage
Violent “class war” certainly appeals to Nathan. Not so keen yourself? You must be a “fucking arse biscuit”. 8/12 Image
Nor are the ‘Zionists’ spared, oh no. Here Nathan appears to support Marc Wadsworth earlier this year. Wadsworth is a very controversial figure who was expelled from the party in 2018. 9/12 Image
Nathan also signed an open letter in support of the anti-Zionist Moshé Machover when he was expelled from the party in 2017. He was subsequently reinstated after a controversial intervention by Jeremy Corbyn. 10/12

In his spare time, Nathan directs the “Freedom for Öcalan” campaign, which supports the founder of the Kurdish PKK group. The PKK was proscribed by the UK as a terrorist group in 2001. Its proscription was reaffirmed this year. 11/12
If there is one “red wall” that today’s reforming Labour party should actually love to see crumble, it is Islington. 12/12 Image

Saturday afternoon in Brighton, that city of sanctuary and oasis of tolerance.

The trans flag and chants for the death cult Houthis of Yemen, who sentence gay men to death by crucifixion.

The "Palestine Solidarity Campaign" calls its marchers "the very best of humanity". 1/10
They really do like the Houthis.

The Houthi slogan: "God is the Greatest, Death to America, Death to Israel, Curse the Jews, Victory to Islam."

Perhaps the Green Party could give them ceremonial keys to Brighton?

I wonder what Pride is like in Sanaa, Yemen's capital? 2/10
We do know what Sanaa looked like just yesterday. That's the Houthi slogan on the placards. Such fantastic people. Heroes! 3/10

Don't say "Islamist" or "jihadist". Don't say "hate marches" either, "arguably inciting division and emboldening far-right sentiments”.

Why on earth should civil servants be "trained" by the "Anti-Islamophobia Working Group", which came up with these lines?

There's more. 1/13 Image
The link.

“It is deeply concerning that DESNZ is not prepared to share the content of this session. Without transparency there is a risk that training is embedding deeply contested ideology into the civil service, which is meant to be impartial." 2/13

Now let's look at a rather revealing segment from an AIWG report. "How dare they call them hate marches!"

So, what did London look like on 11 November 2023? There certainly was far right trouble. It was indeed roundly condemned.

And the other side, the "peace marchers"? 3/13 Image

Are Islamists long locked out in the political cold finding a back door into mainstream politics? It seems so.

For now, one story. The Aziz Foundation is at the heart of all this.

One must question the judgment of a group that chose the academic Tarek Younis as a "mentor". 1/9
Look at his reaction to the Hamas atrocities of 7 October.

On the day - "decolonial" abductions, rape, torture, and mass murder. 2/9 Image
A day later - "how can we support the Palestinian resistance?". 3/9 Image

This is one reason why I don't trust Akeela Ahmed to set a formal definition of Islamophobia.

The risks of extremist exploitation are very high.

Yet she seems to know little about the topic. Or she's simply unwilling to address it directly and firmly. See this exchange. 1/7
She's asked about "anti-blasphemy activism" and social cohesion. How to address it?

All sorts of meandering answers follow.

- "Not my expertise", "not my experience in British Muslim communities".

- In Batley, "people receiving information online became more polarised". 2/7 Image
- In addition, successive governments have not "invested in community cohesion", rendering people "vulnerable".

- "Misinformation" from beyond Batley in the UK and outside the UK was another problem in Batley.

- "Rather than developing intitiatives just thinking... 3/7

How low will they go in Edinburgh? Last Saturday, right to the bottom of the hatred pit. At least three Nazi slurs were hurled from the podium. And there was much more.

First up, Tommy Sheppard, a former SNP MP. The flag of the Iranian regime is a most appropriate backdrop. 1/9
That wasn't enough for Sheppard. He then urged people to take "action" against defence companies in Scotland. Why? Because they are "crucifying" Palestinians.

Sheppard spent much of his time in Westminster hating on Israel and bringing extremists to Parliament. 2/9
Lesley Riddoch is a columnist for "The National". And it shows. No, a baroness resorting to a "concentration camp" slur does not make it OK. 3/9

See London abused yet again yesterday, knowing that the government and the capital’s mayor just look away and say nothing as the streets are turned over to ghouls.

“Zionists are not welcome here!”

There were so many awful scenes. 1/12
Let's start with "Zionists". That takes in Israelis and diaspora Jews of all sorts, including strong opponents of Netanyahu who want the war to end.

But no. They are "baby killers". 2/12
In fact, Zionism is a "crime". "Kick them out!" 3/12
