found an old blog with a little inside info on Dynamite Deka…apparently they had to propose three alternate names for the JP version & send them to the US team to choose one; they had 2 but couldn't come up with a third, so someone says "just think of something ridiculous (>)
>) for #3 so that they're forced to pick between #1/#2", so they went with "Dynamite Deka", which combined two anachronistic terms that they thought were even cornier when put together... and it turned out to be the unanimous favourite, oops

as it happens, the old Dynamite Deka page had all three proposed names hidden away on an omake page—the other two were "Matenrou no Ookami" and "Kenjuu", which are also over-the-top but in a more macho way, whereas Dynamite Deka's pure dumb
(I'm sure absolutely nobody thought this but there's no connection between Deka and Sammy/Dreamfactory's cancelled fighting game Kenjuu, by the by)
the blog author also ended up playing the prez's daughter at a promo event for Deka 2—they needed a cosplay at short notice & didn't want to ask any of the female staff to play her, seeing as she's so ugly, so he suggested they get a man to do it & they decided it should be him
