/ One early and crystal clear conclusion from distributed work: collaboration ain't solved yet.
/ Your messaging app, whether it's slack or something else, really has limited context baked in. It's a world of screenshots and blocked links. It scales badly. Non-adoption by the few ruin it for the many.
/ Google Docs is probably the only cloud native app that's really built collaboration into the product, but it feels like they stopped investing in it years ago.
/ Our work remains remarkably siloed with your messaging app acting as a catch-all. Our failsafe here at @stride_vc is @asana but how fucked is it that our task manager becomes our collective brain for what needs to be done collaboratively.
/ We need a software-independent layer of collaboration that holds collective intelligence and works across your SaaS tools and draws people in as needed, fusing a GTD mindset with the ability to collaborate on documents, designs, workflows etc.
/ I feel like we are still in the first innings of collaboration, and what asynchronous work and distributed teams can achieve. Tons left to invent and figure out now that we have all of our tools in the cloud and the communications rails in place.
/ Our stack for reference is @asana (tasks) @telegram (messaging) @NotionVC (collective brains) @airtable (stable data) Affinity (CRM) @RoamResearch (individual brains) @Superhuman (speed) @Google everything else
