1/ What do I do in situation X to reduce risk?
- We are being getting a lot of questions about specific situations
- Best analogy: think that someone else in the location of interest is smoking. You don't want to smell the smoke the inhale, or smell it as little as possible.
2/ Smoke IS EXACTLY AEROSOLS, it moves and behaves in the same way.
- If you can, light a match in different locations in the room, see how the air moves.
- Makes obvious that opening rooms, adding HEPA filters, less people (less chance that you have one "smoker") help a lot
3/ Caveat: smoke is too strong of a source, compared to COVID-19 virus-containing particles.
- Someone smokes in a room, you may smell the smoke for hours and days
- Virus source is less strong. Julian Tang likes to use the analogy of talking with someone who has eaten garlic.
4/ I am concerned the garlic smell source may be too weak. COVID-19 is somewhere in between /End
