In Charminar Unani since June 16. 5200 samples have been taken & 578 people were found positive till July 6. Approx 250 tests are being done everyday.

Spoke to & urged @Eatala_Rajender to increase RTPCR testing in each centre to at least 1000/day. We need to better equip these facilities
Increasing capacity is essential since existing facilities have long wait-lists for & patients arrive by 8:30AM for their turn

Tests in these facilities are RT PCR. These tests are gold standard for further diagnosis & treatment of covid-19 patients
Soon, rapid antigen testing will also be available in Public Health Centres. This is a welcome step, but we'll still need to expand RTPCR tests.

I urge @TelanganaCMO @Eatala_Rajender to give wide publicity for free testing to encourage the public to get themselves tested
Currently testing is mostly limited to primary contacts of patients. There is an urgent need to expand the net & ensure proactive testing by all

I especially urge people with chronic illnesses, pregnant women, cardiac, cancer & dialysis patients to get tested at the earliest

I also once again urge @TelanganaCMO @Eatala_Rajender to make Charminar Unani a First Referral Hospital to ensure that covid-19 patients can better access healthcare. This will also reduce the pressure on existing infrastructure
