Gist of the decision, which is 7-2 (with Alito and Thomas in dissent): lower courts did not take an adequate look at the special concerns involved when Congress subpoenas information about a president.

Also: Court rejects House's approach that Congress need not show any direct link btw the information sought and the legislative project.
As a middle way between the too-exacting and the anything-goes approaches of Trump and the House, respectively, SCOTUS orders up four considerations for deciding whether a congressional subpoena of presidential records is appropriate.
One wonders if this case would have come out the same way if the lawyer for the House — who delivered the most inept oral argument I've heard in 7 years covering the Court — came prepared to articulate a more limited standard for when Congress may subpoena the president's papers.
