#PakistaniSilentMajority is a hashtag I have been using for the last few days. The simplest connotation of that hashtag is that there is an overwhelming majority of Pakistanis, voters and would be voters,who have to-date been silent spectators in the shaping of Pakistan’s destiny
In 2018,Pakistan had 106 million voters.That translates to 10 crores and 60 lac voters.A total of 51.1 % of them actually voted in 2018 for three major political parties ie PTI,PMLN and PPP plus a dozen or so smaller parties.The three major parties took approx 3.5crore votes ONLY
This actually means that about half the registered voters did not bother about what Pakistan’s destiny may be in the post elections period.For them all,me included,it was like thinking that it was the common rural Pakistanis’ job to make a Govt in Pakistan for the next five years
This silent majority of Pakistan that was asleep in 2018 and in earlier elections is a majority that continues to grow in numbers and it includes educationists, doctors, engineers,intellectuals,retired civil and military personnel, judges, businessmen et all;the cream of Pakistan
Most people blame the poor and lesser educated rural population of Pakistan of throwing away their votes or bargaining it off.The reality is that it is rural Pakistan that hits the polling booths in a big way as the candidates herd them to the polling booths to vote for them
In 2018 this is what happened. Table below clearly shows that the #PakistaniSilentMajority constituted a bulk as large as 48.9% of the registered voters and they did not see any good coming out of voting for the PTI,PMLN or the PPP etc. So where does this majority now stand? 
Presently, I see and read views and comments of people everyday and notice the pain of the Pakistani people due to a million different reasons. This has been the case all through the 73 years of Pakistan’s independence. People talk of reforms and of how Pakistan must be governed
It is all very good to talk on twitter and other social media. These are just words. They get printed. Some like or retweet those ideas and comments and then the focus shifts to other things. Nothing happens on anything good said or discussed. We all work on our nerves in vain
The #PakistaniSilentMajority thinks that politics is dirty business and stays at an arms length from politics.They have business concerns etc to keep them going and with time they become so apolitical that nothing seems to bother them as long as their personal life is comfortable
Sad but true. If Pakistan has to truly change it isn’t the status quo,whatever form it might take, that will ever change Pakistan for us. We have to do it ourselves.The

Its already too late but there is probably still time for the #PakistaniSilentMajority to step out and give Pakistanis a hope by entering electoral politics in a big way and changing the political landscape of Pakistan otherwise after every elections frustrations will be our fate
In my opinion PTI had an opportunity to do what I am now suggesting. It was precisely why I had joined it but had to quietly leave, after a year or so in 2013, when I realized that it isn’t going to happen. PTI itself became status quo to get to power.
The workers and supporters of PTI were also part of the then #PakistaniSilentMajority and I don’t blame them for anything. At heart I was part of them not of the hierarchy.When I left PTI in my press release I had said that the PTI workers will be the only people I will miss
Pakistan,as we all see, needs us all. It is time for the #PakistaniSilentMajority to come together.The business people, educationists,doctors,engineers, intellectuals,opinion makers et all that form this majority must step into active electoral politics on a platform of their own
Can it happen,will it happen,is it a possibility or is it next to impossible are questions that will crop up in every mind. A lot of things are easier said than done. This might be one such thing and may end up as a fantasy. To me nothing is impossible. How and when is clouded
May ALMIGHTY ALLAH wake up the conscience and patriotism of every Pakistani man,woman,boy and girl so that they realize that they can no longer be bystanders to the destiny of Pakistan and that they ie #PakistaniSilentMajority have to step out of their comfort zones for Pakistan
Someday,I am sure some good Pakistanis from the #PakistaniSilentMajority will team up and bring up a platform for the members of this silent majority to dive into genuine and principled electoral politics with the aim of public service through massive reforms. #PakistanZindabad
