I Keep raising one issue which, as of now doesn't concern many Indians, but it must, and that is almost complete control of international NGOs on the funding available within India. Their clout is such that many committed Indian NGOs are struggling to survive.
I log in to twitter or Facebook or Instagram and one promoted post of one INGO, claiming to be Indian, pops up asking for funds. Many of them partner with Indian news channels, run their advertisements on TV channels and have Bollywood celebrities as ambassadors.
Cost of fundraising of these INGOs is so huge that, it is not even annual turnover of over 99% Indian grassroots NGOs doing a lot better work.

These local NGOs are a lot more cost-effective and efficient in working.
The situation is such, earlier Indian NGOs relied on international NGOs when they brought foreign funding. They continue relying on them even when funding is largely mobilised within India.

When we talk of #VocalForLocal we should say the same for Indian NGOs too.
Local NGOs have started feeling suffocated, now gradually there is resistance against the money-driven approach of INGOs. We hear this resistance in Nigeria, Malawi, Indonesia, etc. but not yet in India.
In India, situation is much worse as a lot more funding is available here. While these INGOs accuse the government for shrinking space, they themselves are denying space of local NGOs, who can't oppose INGOs for fear of losing funding.
Since we, through @humanaidint, constantly raise this issue, we face hostility from these mighty NGOs who are getting richer in India because of their capacity to raise more money.

Our corporate sector prefers them for their brand value.
My humble request is, if you donate, please find a local organisation to donate to. If you can influence a corporate donor, please ask them to partner with a local Indian organisation.

They will ensure a better utilisation of their funding.
