@ContainmentNow @Sabje1979 Shown in the figure below is the number of SARS-CoV-2 PCR positive cases versus the number of hospitalizations. In the Netherlands there would be hardly a delay between testing and hospitalization because of the restricted testing policy. Testing meant going to hospital.
@ContainmentNow @Sabje1979 In the figure the week numbers are indicated. Prior to the peek in hospitalizations (week 13), a constant fraction (hospitalizations : positive cases) of 0.49 is observed (green line).
@ContainmentNow @Sabje1979 After week 13 this ratio declines to 0.13 in week 15 and remains constant thereafter (red line). This means that the number of hospitalizations per positive case reduced by a factor 4 in week 15.
@ContainmentNow @Sabje1979 The difference is not due to testing since, a fairly linear trend can be observed between positive cases and excess deaths. No delay observed here.
@ContainmentNow @Sabje1979 Why does the hospitalizations : positive cases ratio decline from 0.49 to 0.13 in a matter of 2 weeks after the maximum in hospitalizations had been reached? That is because there was no more space, which can be beds or availability of personel.
@ContainmentNow @Sabje1979 At the same time anecdotal stories surface with regard to traige performed general practitioners. The following page went on line on 23 march 2020 (start of week 13).
