If they kick out the white supremacists, they'll have to accept years of electoral defeat until they can widen their appeal.
Can the GOP do that?
1/
The GOP could reemerge in a decade as a center-right party.
The GOP long ago made a bargain with the devil: You vote for us and we'll throw you crumbs.
Bargaining with the devil is always a bad idea. The devil took over their party.
Those who are anti-democratic will always be with us trying to cause trouble from the sidelines.
White supremacy is based on lies.
For example, if no presidential candidate wins an electoral majority, the president is selected by the House of Representatives . . .
Parliamentary systems, which allow for multiple parties, are altogether different.
I'm a huge advocate of cleaning up the mess in our election system, including but not limited to gerrymandering and big money in politics.
Having two major parties forces coalition building and compromise.
I'm saying that our Constitution doesn't create a parliamentary system, and I don't advocate the effort to change our system into one.
Both systems have benefits.
They're also anti-science and anti-fact.
Also, fact: The suburbs are no longer as racist as they were in the 1970s.
Now the cost of living in the highly desirable urban areas drives people to buy a house or rent a place further out.
