Article suggests New York basically had European style outbreak while rest of country has been dealing with a slow burn until we hit same level of infection. If thesis is true, key is infections being primarily in young & keeping nursing homes safe. Which is what FL is doing.
In other words, reason US outbreak is still ongoing some places is because we shut down there & flattened curve. Flattening the curve just spread out infections longer. Once we opened back up infections were inevitable. Key has always been managing the virus, can’t eradicate it.
