BREAKING: Manchester City overturns 2-year ban from Champions League
Manchester City will now only be fined 10 million euros for breaching FFP, according to the CAS verdict
CAS lifts Man City European ban saying: "As the charges with respect to any dishonest
concealment of equity funding were clearly more significant violations than obstructing the CFCB’s investigations, it was not appropriate to impose a ban"
Court of Arbitration for Sport on why Manchester City's European ban has been lifted
#MCFC: "Whilst Manchester City and its legal advisors are yet to review the full ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the Club welcomes the implications of today’s ruling as a validation of the Club’s position and the body of evidence that it was able to present."
UEFA says it "notes that the CAS panel found that there was insufficient conclusive evidence to uphold all of the CFCB’s conclusions in this specific case and that many of the alleged breaches were time-barred due to the 5 year time period foreseen in the UEFA regulations"
UEFA's processes under the microscope over Man City case:
- why launch a case when there was 5-year time limit to bring a case?
- does that part of the regulations mean any potential breaches of rules only have to masked for 5 years?
As reported last year, "Manchester City has not been cooperating with investigators."
That part of UEFA's eventual verdict was backed by CAS which said City "did fail to cooperate with the UEFA authorities"
