/20 Today, sixteen years before the partition of British India. On July 13, 1931, an organised communal carnage took place in Kashmir. Follow the thread to unravel the reality of #KashmirMartyrsDay.A must read explosive thread on #13July1931 carnage #PakistanStopBleadingKashmir
/20 In 1931, Maharaja Hari Singh was the sovereign ruler of the Jammu and Kashmir, which included Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad-Mirpur, Aksai Chin and Shaksgam Valley. #KashmirMartyrsDay #13July1931
/20 The British wanted Singh to lease them Gilgit Agency - a system of administration established by British Indian Empire to strengthen Jammu and Kashmir, which was denied by the Maharaja. #KashmirMartyrsDay #13July1931
/20 Subsequently, the British implemented their divide and rule policy. Singh was a Hindu king who ruled over his predominantly Muslim subjects. Therefore the British decided to instigate the Muslims, however, Islamists had their own plans #KashmirMartyrsDay #13July1931
/20 A rabble rouser, Abdul Qadir from Peshawar and Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, a discarded member from the Aligarh Muslim University were brought and roped in for the job. #KashmirMartyrsDay #13July1931
/20 In a public meeting organised at the Shah-e-Hamdan. Qadir delivered a fiery speech inciting Muslims against Hari Singh. He incited communal violence by saying that the holy Quran forbade Muslims to subject themselves to an infidel Hindu ruler. #KashmirMartyrsDay #13July1931
/20 As an act of defiance, Qadir also incited them to slaughter cows. Qadir was arrested on the charge of terrorism and inciting people against Singh. His trial was disrupted. A decision to hold his trial in the jail premises was taken. #KashmirMartyrsDay #13July1931
/20 On #13July1931, thousands of Islamists flocked to Srinagar’s Central Jail to disrupt the trial of Qadir. While there was violence outside the outside the jail, inside, the prisoners tried to force open the iron gates. The trial was repeatedly disrupted. #KashmirMartyrsDay
/20 The crowd stoned the policemen & the criminals in the jail were helped to escape. The District Magistrate was summoned to the spot and he declared the crowd to be an "unlawful assembly" and peacefully ordered its dispersal. #KashmirMartyrsDay #13July1931
/20 The order was defied & the crowd started to engage in extreme violence. Finding that the mob could neither be pacified nor dispersed, the District Magistrate directed strong action. The crowd broke, but later re-assembled and resumed stoning. #KashmirMartyrsDay #13July1931
/20 A section of the mob proceeded towards Maharaj Ganj, a business locality and engaged in loot. From Bhori Kadal to Alikadal, Hindu shops were raided. Other localities with Hindu majority population too formed the centres of loot and arson. #KashmirMartyrsDay #13July1931
/20 Mass atrocities were committed by the mob; women were subjected to the worst possible and the most indecent assaults. A majority of victims of this ambuscade were Hindus. Many lost their lives and hundreds suffered physical injuries. #KashmirMartyrsDay #13July1931
/20 Since years, a fake narrative by motivated people has been developed to propagated that #KashmirMartyrsDay was a "democratic" uprising. However, the #13July1931 carnage remains to rightly read as an Islamist rebellion against the Hindu king in the names of Islam.
/20 On #13July1931, islamist rioters wreaked havoc as far as Rajouri, Kotli & Mirpur. For Hindu refugees from Mirpur, the year 1931 is in popular memory as "Atthassi na Shaurash" - the massacres of 88- because the Vikrami almanac is 57 years ahead of the CE. #KashmirMartyrsDay
/20 July 13 happenings known as "88 NA SHAURASH" (Riots of 1988 Bikram or 1931 Christian Era) still haunt the not only the survivors of that time but also of their subsequent generations. #KashmirMartyrsDay #13July1931
/20 Rioters were assisted by the locals wherever they went & with their help houses of Hindus/Sikhs were looted, places of worship destroyed/burnt.Hindu villages of Seri, Rajoa, Khui Rata & Dhana were completely destroyed/ razed to the ground. #KashmirMartyrsDay
/20 From 1339 - since the reign of Shah Mir - till 1819, when Maharaja Ranjit Singh liberated Kashmir from the Afghan rulers, indigenous non-Muslims have been at the receiving end of an alien, hostile Islamist propaganda of varying hues. #KashmirMartyrsDay #13July1931
/20 One of the travesties of such an arrangement was that the non-Muslim population of Jammu and Kashmir had to suffer the humiliation of "commemorating" their own tormentors as martyred heroes every year until the amendment of Article 370. #KashmirMartyrsDay #13July1931
/20 Until 5 August 2019, #13July1931 state holiday blatantly promoted a certain political ideology & an incorrect version of the history. It denies with impunity other provinces and stakeholders an equal voice, the right to disagree & their own lived history. #KashmirMartyrsDay
/20 For the first time since 1948 there will be NO holiday & official functions to commemorate #KashmirMartyrsDay following the revocation of Article 370 last year, when the government had issued a list of gazette holidays for the newly carved UT of J&K. #RightMove #13July1931
/20 On #13July1931 Hundreds of hindus/sikhs were murdered, maimed, molested, raped, robbed & forcibly converted to Islam by the rioters. It was a disgrace that the state government of J&K until last year called the dead rioters as fallen heroes. #Propoganda #KashmirSurvivalDay
