HEADLINE: Uptick stalls... at least for one day... number dips... but yeah, the whole "pay attention to the trend" thing still applies

Keep in mind...

we are still trending up...

One day could very well represent a blip (as we've discussed before), but it could also be the start of a trend...

But it's good to see... even if for one day... this rise stall...
One thing to watch...

The blue bars at the bottom of this graph...

Back in June we typically saw < two dozen newly admitted

Today it's typically > two or three dozen

(*this is an estimate, based upon data, so keep that in mind too)

BREAKING -- @GovofCO announces statewide mask mandate for public, indoor spaces in Colorado.
Dr. Rachel Herlihy, state epidemiologist, says we are seeing an acceleration of case growth.

Says we are seeing "some pretty rapid acceleration" in hospitalizations too.
Dr. Herlihy is painting a bit of a dire forecast here, folks.

Says state has potential to exceed ICU bed capacity in September.

I think it's important to reintroduce you to Dr. Leon Kelly... the El Paso County Coroner

He spoke to his commissioners today, delivering some of the more stark words I've heard in some time on COVID in the state. Basically, now is a CRITICAL time
For background... Dr. Kelly has been investigating COVID, in essence, since day one in Colorado.

He helped identify first outbreak in state.

He says Colorado has faced two MAJOR moments in this fight...

When the first death was documented.

Headline: Yeah, that's a sizable jump. Manageable, yes, but sizable nonetheless

So...

7/14: 252 COVID+ patients
7/7: 154

So, I'm open to thoughts here.

In one day we saw a jump of 32 patients -- that's as big of a jump as we have seen in months BTW

Is something else going on here? Or is there simply a bigger uptick in admittances?
One additional hospital (out of around 100) reporting possible staff shortage coming up

But other than that, hospitals seem to be doing ok.
