The same zip codes impacted the worst by #COVID19 – those who have been hurting for generations – are on track to be the most undercounted in the Census at a time when we need our full funding the most. #MakeILCount
On the whole, Rockford is running just behind the state in its Census response rate: 65.5% versus 66.9%.

That number ranges within Rockford: the Keith Creek neighborhood is currently seeing response rates below 35%.

There's still time to turn that around.
It’s been incredibly uplifting & inspiring to see so many Illinoisans taking to the streets to demand justice.

Illinois now has the lowest infection rates among all our neighboring states and one of the lowest positivity rates in the country — but this virus hasn't gone away.

Unlike in late February, we now have significantly greater ability to test, trace & limit the spread of #covid19:

➡️ More than 33,000 tests per day, a record weekly average

➡️ Triple the number of contact tracers

➡️ 3% average positivity rate, down from a peak above 23%
Illinoisans worked hard to get our numbers down so that we could build back some aspects of everyday life — and now many are wondering what’s next.

So today, I'm outlining the path ahead and making sure we all know what will cause us to impose further mitigations.

When it became clear that #COVID19 was not a phenomenon limited to Asia or Europe, we fully expected the federal government – home of the @CDCgov and @HHSGov – would arm the states with information, equipment, testing capability and personnel.
After all, the federal government had the experience fighting H1N1, SARS and Ebola.

A global pandemic requires a national response.

But that’s not what happened.
