This book on KGB by a former KGB defector unveils Russian agency's ops in India during the Cold War. Apart from Vano this book also talks about vast sums of money funneled to the CPI. KGB funded the CPI and in the 1977 elections, 21 non-communist leaders had been financed.
This book clearly talks about how KGB moles had infiltrated the PMO. They were involved in passing information outside the country. Who were these moles?
The book claimed that many of the top leaders, diplomats, and statesmen of Congress were working as the agents of the KGB, the Soviet secret service.
Mitrokhin Archive mentions that the rot was deep and politicians very high up in the ladder in the Congress Party were directly passing the secrets of India’s activities to the Soviet Union.
