Latest data drop from DOH Philippines shows 19 cities or municipalities with both ICU beds and mechanical ventilators are highly utilised. Among these, 5 are in Metro Manila, 3 in Cavite, and 2 in Metro Cebu. Five of these are also at 100% capacity for both ICU and ventilators. Image
These are the five cities in the metropolitan areas with the highest number of confirmed cases. The trends of increase in Manila City, Quezon City, and Mandaluyong have been extremely steep for the past few days. Image
Outside of Metro Manila, the highest volumes of cases are in Metro Cebu, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Davao City, Zamboanga City, and Cagayan de Oro. #COVID19PH Image
In the whole country, there are only 4 provinces without any confirmed case: Batanes, Aurora, Quirino, and Dinagat Islands. Image
And these are the 20 provinces with the highest utilisation of ICU beds and 20 provinces with the highest utilisation of mechanical ventilators. Metro Manila has 65% of ICU beds utilised and 40% of ventilators used. Image
In the testing data of the DOH data drop, the number of individuals testing positive is increasing. This number has been more than 2,000 individuals every day for the past 11 days. Image
The backlog of unvalidated positive results is also in a similar increasing trend. For the latest four days of data, this number has been more than 20,000 individuals. These are the individuals not yet included in the official DOH confirmed count but have tested positive. Image
Data quality is still very poor in the lates DOH data drop. More than 15K confirmed cases don't have known local government units, and more than 14K cases have inconsistent or incomplete date values. Image
About a week ago DOH removed important date information in their daily data drop. This includes the confirmation date of recovery and confirmation date of fatality. It makes it now difficult to confirm their daily announcement, as well as see specific trends and delays.
To mitigate this, the data sets from John Hopkins University (JHU) are now being used in the dashboards, to augment the missing information. Unfortunately JHU only has aggregate data per country, so trends at a local level and certain delay metrics can no longer be reported.
Finally, comparing the metrics in the entire Asia Pacific region for countries with at least 1K active cases, the Philippines still has the worst recovery rate. This comparison includes Central Asia, East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Oceania, and Pacific Islands. Image
