Hi friends. We need to talk. This City action today hurts our 69 year old Chicago business. It hurts us badly.

@BauerJournalism Eliminating indoor service? We were already doing 95% outdoor. We could survive that.

@BauerJournalism But since we were (finally) allowed to reopen our patio in mid-June we’ve worked incredibly hard to offer safe service.

@BauerJournalism We require masks. We have hand sanitizer all over. We do temperature checks. We require you to sit.

@BauerJournalism To be ultra-safe We shut off our dart boards, pool table, and board games despite customer requests

@BauerJournalism And with the help of a modest PPP loan, a lot of hard work, and great customers we’ve slowed the losses (not stopped them).

@BauerJournalism Now? We’re basically being told to whack our outdoor seating occupancy from 58 to 34-36. That’s...hard.

@BauerJournalism We’ll of course buckle down & work even harder to try and survive. But now we can’t bring more staff back like we want to.

@BauerJournalism And with some of staff’s $600/week federal unemployment benefit maybe ending soon? That inability worries us. A lot.

But for now, we're staying open and trying to take care of as many staff as best we can. And we sincerely appreciate your tremendous support.

Those things will all help. Meantime, #WearAMask everyone and if you go to those magical bars and restaurants with kitchens that are somehow safer than us? Behave yourself.

Our Chicago bar's existence unfortunately seems to depend on them being as safe as we have.
