Again, this really does bear repeating: the only legally and constitutionally permissible through-line Trump can draw between crime in individual U.S. cities and the deployment of federal forces involves the protection of federal land and property, not a high crime rate generally
Any and every time Trump connects sending federal forces to individual cities while simply citing those city's crime rates he is literally suggesting collapsing American democracy into an autocracy in which our streets are controlled by force by Trump and the Trump Administration
If there is any other legal authority for a covert, interagency federal paramilitary force occupying an American city to engage in routine policing functions besides the Insurrection Act of 1807 I am unaware of it and would ask a right-wing attorney to educate us all immediately
