BREAKING NEWS: Alleged Would-Be Judge Salas Assassin Was an Avid Trump Supporter Who Sued the Media Before the 2016 Election Over Its Coverage of the Now-President abovethelaw.com/2016/08/lawyer…
PS/ This is why FBI investigations are complex. The cancer angle looked good as a lead, then the misogyny angle, now "all of the above" looks good as a lead, with all of the above including being aware of the political implications of a case to which Salas had just been assigned.
PS2/ Below is Hollander's filing. If he was pissed about Trump-Russia money laundering rumors filtering through the media in '16, I can't imagine he was happy when a judge he already hated picked up a case with possible Trump/money laundering implications. assets.documentcloud.org/documents/3034…
PS3/ This guy's life just sounds... wild. Which takes an investigator in so many different directions. *One* of them—but just one, to be clear—is to acknowledge that, given that the guy worked in Moscow on intelligence-related matters, he was *very* ripe to be taken advantage of.
PS4/ This case seems like a microcosm of the Epstein case in the following sense: there are so many insane moving parts—any of which could be red herrings—that it's basically impossible to discuss it responsibly or coherently. So maybe it's a microcosm of Trump's presidency, too?
PS5/ To be honest, as a longtime criminal defense attorney who now teaches, I "miss" conventional criminal cases. The ones without, say, a "Russian intelligence" angle, and a "conspiracy-theorist Trump fanatic angle," and a "Men's Rights Movement" angle. I mean...it's exhausting.
PS6/ All that said, let's be clear on this: anyone who implies, "You could find a Russian intelligence angle in *any* case!" "...a Russian mob angle in *any* case!" "...a Trumpist conspiracy-mongerer angle in *any* case!"

No—you couldn't. Not even in 1 out of every 25,000 cases.
PS7/ So I don't know what the *hell* to think about this case except to say, again, that not even 1 out of every 25,000 cases in our legal system would involve a Russian intelligence angle, a Russian mob angle, a Trump conspiracy-mongerer angle, and a Men's Rights Movement angle.
PS8/ And I'm put in mind of the fact that—pre- Trump and post-Trump, in *all* walks of life—when bizarre things keep happening in the orbit of a common denominator, humans have always had a saying: "Have you considered the common denominator across all these bizarre situations?"
