Atal Mission for Rejuvenation & Urban Transformation #AMRUT has proven to be the real nectar (AMRIT) in the lives of citizens across the country.
The scheme lays emphasis on providing the most basic civic amenities in the 500 mission cities.
#TransformingUrbanLandscape ImageImageImageImage
Most important component of the scheme is universal water supply. It has ensured water tap connections with 24x7 water supply, improved quality of water, negated the problem of scarcity of water & significantly reduced diseases caused by contaminated water.
Apart from water tap connections, this component undertakes building of overhead tanks in cities & towns with population of over one lakh within the notified area. This has immensely contributed to a healthy & regular supply of water for citizens. #TransformingUrbanLandscape ImageImageImageImage
I am extremely happy to share that from April to June 2020 (Covid-19 period), 1.36 lakh household water tap connections have been done under #AMRUT.
As of now, total 79 lakh water tap connections have been provided across 500 Mission cities.

Household water tap connections are being provided at Etawah, UP since partial relaxation of lockdown from 20 April 2020.
With a project cost of ₹49.58 cr, house service connections have been provided to 21,000 beneficiaries in Bharatpur, Rajasthan with Household metering. ImageImageImageImage
Continuing the trend of #TransformingUrbanLandscape post lockdown & with increased pace of work, Water Supply Scheme of Satna has been completed & commissioned under the mission. This will benefit over 32,000 households on a daily basis with regular supply of Water. ImageImageImage
Shirdi Water Supply scheme has provided improved water supply to 50,000 households & better water storage. The balancing tank receiving water from Godavari canal has been made percolation free using 500 micron geo-membrane.
#TransformingUrbanLandscape ImageImageImageImage
The water supply project in Bankura Municipality of West Bengal has benefitted more than 63,000 households in the area. The Janiveli Project in Berhampur, Odisha has benefited over 67,000 households with 24x7 fresh water supply. ImageImageImage
Water source augmentation in Betul has provided 7 metre deep & 183 metre long barrage across the Tapti river which in turn increased the per capita water supply from 30 LPCD to 135 LPCD & provided uninterrupted water supply to 1.03 lakh persons.

#TransformingUrbanLandscape Image
So far, 40,252 water supply projects worth ₹18,523 crore have been grounded for construction & a total of 79 lakh water tap connections have been provided in 500 mission cities.

It brings so much of satisfaction in listening to testimonials of beneficiaries whose lives have been significantly changed & improved by availing the benefits of the water supply component of AMRUT. This has contributed in #TransformingUrbanLandscape in an unprecedented manner. ImageImageImage

Visited LightHouse Project site (LHP) at Perumbakkam in Chennai today. Hon’ble PM laid the foundation of this work of constructing 1,152 G+5 houses on 1 January 2021. Ms Sirke is using Precast Concrete Construction Technology from Finland to deliver this work in less than a year.
Was extremely impressed to see the progress on site. On the one hand, raft, base concrete slab etc are going for 4 towers, precast elements like roof slab, hollow columns, stairs etc are being cast in a temporary factory type of set up around 200 metres away from the site.
A Third Party expert body will be monitoring the quality.

Ms Sirke’s senior official told me that they guarantee life for 100 years & if maintained well, these houses will last for many more years. Could observe resource efficiency, speed & meticulous precision work on site.

Heartiest congratulations to Govt of Tamil Nadu & their Koyambedu Tertiary Treatment Water RO Plant in Chennai for receiving Global Water Award 2020 for Wastewater Project of the Year!

@pibchennai
It is an AMRUT funded Project to convert secondary treated water into better than drinking quality level.

Visited this Plant today. It is getting 60 MLD secondary treated water from the STP set up in adjoining plot, with capacity to produce 214 MLD water.
With this, after purifying through detailed process, consisting of stabilising, filtration with different levels of porosity & ozonisation, it delivers pure water with high quality.

This water is being taken by pipes to over 60 kms to be consumed by various industries.

Inspected 9 km metro section of Washermenpet to Wimco Nagar, which is ready for inauguration by Hon’ble PM tomorrow at 11 am in Chennai. This section covers very thickly populated areas of Northern Chennai.
It connects to large number of public/private huge sector industrial units & now connect them to airport, major railways & inter/ intra-city bus stations. Happy to interact with empowered transgender operators, who are fully trained to run New Washermenpet Station.
Wimconagar is themed on Swachh Bharat Mission. Happy to visit Aavin, a TN Milk Cooperative Booth & TRIFED Stall with Tribal India products as pioneer public facilities on the stations. The whole setup is is geared for tomorrow’s event.

Visited the Integrated Command & Control Centre (ICCC) developed by Chennai Smart City today. As a brain & nervous system of the city, it is delivering many services to improve quality of life of citizens.
For example flood control & rain water monitoring on real time basis with sensors/cameras help in better preparedness & quick response to any calamity.
It is used for solid waste management.
Garbage collection vehicles are tracked, health of 210 water bodies measured, citizens' grievances managed. It is also being used as a citizen service portal. Many other applications like citizens’ safety, traffic & public transport services, water/sewer SCADA are getting added.
