The lost statues of Bamiyan.

This was *not* an act of vandalism but a legal act on the order of the Supreme Court of Afghanistan, per Islamic law.

(it quotes my tweet on this)

Good thread, but it is wrong to call those who blew up the Bamiyan Buddhas as terrorists.

They were simply following Islamic law, it was a ruling by their Court based on Sharia.

This is correct that many other Islamic invaders had try to destroy them before without success, so grand they were.

But they wiped out pretty much all they could of the "Buts" (or Buddhas). They called them "but-parast" (बुत परस्त) from Buddhas.

What NCERT textbooks don't teach:

How Islamic invaders destroyed Buddhist monasteries and Buddha statues, how they destroyed Hindu temples from Afghanistan to Bangladesh.

What they teach: "Hindu kings destroyed Buddhist stupas."
