Seasonal pattern of Covid-19 deaths compared to embedded chart of 1964-75 flu outbreak by four seasons. Countries & states split into 35+ N. Lat, 0-35 N, 0-30 S and 30+ S. Flu is the same except 0-30 and 30+ North. This is a striking similarity. Match this with left half of Flu. Image
Data compliation: me. Please give Beyond the Fold podcast a try (currently on iTunes, Spotify, SoundCloud and soon iHeartRadio) for more discussion.

Chart: fantastic work by @Hold2LLC

Data Sources: OurWorldInData (countries), USAFacts.org (states)

Please see this video from June that explains the Hope-Simpson model to explain seasonal flu/viruses.

This is insane uniformity: look at a graph of weekly deaths in SE European and former Soviet countries, most of which didn't get hit when the wave started in February/March.

Crazy patterns with all this. Image
Most of western, northern and central Europe. Behold the beautiful symmetry. Image
More seasonality patterns to look at. All states and countries broken down into latitude by major climate regions (temperate, sub tropical and tropical). One theory of seasonality is based on solar radiation. See how equinox and solstice may have played a role in spread. Image
