#OTD in 1974, SCOTUS issued its dec in Milliken v. Bradley. The case solidified racial segregation in schools, yet it's not well known.

As @alefkowits notes, Milliken kept students & $$ confined to district boundaries.

Gaining lots of attn (rightfully!) @EdBuild found that nonwhite districts get $23B (!) less than white districts tho they serve the same # of kids. 5/7

I grew up in maj W Fairfield, CT- tho living <1 mi from maj B/L Bridgeport, I knew little ab the schools there, knew 0 students.

It was a white bubble sanctioned by Milliken.
