گو چہ ہم پشاور کئی عشروں سے تھیں لیکن 1995 میں مستقل منتقل ہوئے، ساتھ میں یک عدد گائے بھی ساتھ لے آئے. گھاس چارے کا کوئی مسئلہ نہ تھا. وہ گائے کئی برسوں تک ہمارے ہاں تھی. لیکن پھر سوچا کہ شہر میں شہری پن ضروری ہے اسلئے طے پایا گیا کہ اگلے عید قربانی میں اسکو ذبح کیا جائے.

میں جب بھی کسی جانور کو ذبح ہوتے دیکھتا ہوں تو مجھے آج بھی وہ دن یاد آتا ہے کہ جب اس گائے کو ذبح کیا جا رہاتھا، گھر میں سب رو رہے تھیں. اسکی گوشت کو کوئی کھا نہیں رہا تھا . فیصلہ کرنے والے کے ساتھ کئی دن گھر میں کوئی بات نہ کر رہا تھا.

آج کے اس دور میں جب دہشتگردی عروج پر ہے تو جانوروں کا تو دور کی بات انسانوں کا خون خرابہ ہمارے لئے بہت معمولی بات بن گئی ہے. دل سخت سے سخت تر ہو گئے ہیں. وہ احساسات اور جذبات مر گئے ہیں.
