A year ago, @BSYBJP took the oath as the CM of Karnataka. From the very beginning, his and our Government’s focus has been on creating jobs for the youth of Karnataka and achieving high economic growth to be able to fund necessary welfare programmes.

The Government, under his able leadership, has been working ever since to ensure that this aim is achieved despite having to deal with difficult circumstances like the floods in various parts of the state, followed by COVID 19 since early 2020.

For close to 30 years, we have led the country in the growth of the IT industry primarily due to our state’s ability to provide a competitive business environment and attract foreign investment. This has earned us our current position as a global technology hub. @ITBTGoK

However, we had not been able to achieve similar levels of success in the manufacturing sector as we were not competitive in comparison to countries like China, Vietnam and Bangladesh which were able to build significant manufacturing capabilities. @PiyushGoyal

A frequent complaint our government heard from investors, both Indian and foreign, when we requested them to invest to ‘Manufacture / Make in Karnataka’ was the difficulty in the overall ease of doing business including the land acquisition process.

5/n
Since coming to power, the @BJP4Karnataka government led by @BSYBJP has attempted to rectify this situation and power a new wave of manufacturing growth in the state accompanied by high levels of job creation.

We amended the Karnataka Land Reforms Act through an ordinance to empower the farmers of the state by removing restrictions which were used to harass them while at the same time making it easier for industry to purchase land in a transparent manner.

7/n
Further, we have begun the process to interlink Karnataka Udyog Mitra with Bhoomi and Kaveri portals to make land purchase by industry totally transparent and corruption free.

To enable the development of the food processing industry, a highly labour-intensive industry which has the potential to create a large number of jobs in the state while simultaneously increasing the incomes of our farmers, we amended the APMC Act through an ordinance.

9/n
In yet another landmark reform, we amended the Karnataka Industrial (Facilitation) Act 2002 to allow industries to be set up via self certification for the first 3 years instead of being stuck trying to get permissions.

10/n
Karnataka’s single window clearance system of the state is being perfected to ensure that it is a true to it’s name and investors don't need to struggle for permissions.

Our labour laws had a major disconnect with the requirements of the manufacturing sector which needs to compete with businesses in China and Vietnam. To enable them to do this, the government has notified the concept of Fixed term Workmen.

Last week, the State Cabinet approved New Industrial Policy with an aim to attract investments worth Rs. 5 Lakh Crores, create 20 lakh new jobs, maintain a minimum GSDP growth of 10% while providing an enabling environment for innovation and technological development.

13/n
The primary focus of this would be the industrial development of Tier 2 & 3 cities of the state through initiatives like 100 Sq Km Special Industrial Regions (SIR’s) in Dharwad, Shivamogga and Kalaburagi encompassing neighbouring districts. @JagadishShettar

For the first time in India, Karnataka will adopt production ‘turnover based incentives’ over ‘tax based incentives’ to encourage a focus on performance. MSMEs will get an incentive ranging from 1.7% to 2.5% of their turnover for the first 5-10 years.

15/n
The purpose of all this is very straightforward- high economic growth and jobs growth will increase the tax revenues of our government enabling us to continue and expand the various welfare programmes available to our farmers and the poor.

16/n
Under the able leadership of @BSYBJP , we will continue to focus on industrial development and job growth. This is an imperative if we are to become #Aatmanirbhar and transform from a $230 billion economy to a $500 billion one. @InvestKarnataka @KarnatakaVarthe
