There was a memorial for John Lewis at a chapel in Alabama, then at Troy University, then he was ceremonially brought across a bridge in a horse drawn carriage. Next he will lie in DC for 2 days so the public can pay respects, then a memorial in Atlanta and a funeral the next day
All of this while thousands of Americans have not been allowed to have any funeral service for their dead loved ones because of COVID
Imagine someone who lost a parent and could not have any funeral or memorial for them, and now they watch as a deceased politician has a week of memorial services attended by thousands of people across three different states
I have no problem with them doing this for John Lewis. I have a problem with them doing this for John Lewis while telling you that you aren't allowed to gather even 20 people in a chapel to say goodbye to your grandmother. It boggles my mind that anyone would be OK with this.
