Dec 2008: stated that “weak economic conditions are likely to warrant exceptionally low levels of the federal funds rate for some time.” Back in 2008, from December 15 to February 20 of the following year; Silver was 42% higher with Gold 26% to the upside.

March 18, 2009: The FOMC replaced “for some time” with “for an extended period” in its postmeeting statement. Next, from March 17 to December 1st, silver was 54% higher while gold surged 34%.

August 9, 2011: The FOMC announced it will likely keep the federal funds rate at exceptionally low levels “at least through mid-2013.” Then from, August 8 to September 6, Gold was 16% higher with silver up 14%.
January 25, 2012: The FOMC replaces “at least through mid-2013” with “at least through late 2014.” Back in 2012, from early January to March 1st, gold was 14% higher with silver up close to 35%. Precious metals investors were front-running the Fed for much of 2018-2012.
