The chocolate is slightly salty, but unlike those that come embedded with crystals of sea salt, the saltiness is uniform here. Deliciously so.

Like mildly sweetened peanut butter, with that same dreamy creamy texture.
For a certified dark chocolate lover, I am smitten
The chocolate is produced by the same co-operative in Anand that is at the heart of Amul
But the push for the use of camel milk came largely from the NGO Sahjeevan, which works with communities in the Rann of Kutch, @amitangshu tells me. Their focus areas are pastoral societies +
biodiversity and water. Camel milk is a staple of some Rann communities. It's more expensive to produce than cow's milk as I understand. Camels produce less milk per unit, for one. Also, camels produce milk largely when their foal are nearby. Thus, mom + kids must be maintained>
Cow dairies often get rid of male calves by selling them to be raised for beef. This increases the cost of camel dairies. This is a charming report on a camel parlour in Bikaner by @avantikabhuyan where they sell camel milk ice-cream

The Amul camel milk chocolate uses dried camel milk powder. They also sell camel milk. If your local shop doesn't stock it (as they may well not), check Amul stores on Swiggy/Zomato to order some. The ditto with the chocolate. Order online if you don't find it. More importantly >
do try the chocolate. Although the milk is more expensive, the chocolate costs only Rs 125 per bar, cheaper than many of their dark chocolates. This idea to take camel milk mainstream is superb. Perhaps later, they may even introduce donkey's milk chocolates from the Rann >>
Monocultures, as the world today is almost entirely reduced to, are boring (not to mention dangerous and unsustainable). The earth is meant for diversity. Why not have camel, donkey and a range of other dairy in addition to cow and buffalo dairy?
