So Susan Rice is apparently leading the race to be Biden's running mate. Not great news for Israel, definitely not for Netanyahu. She was a big proponent of the Iran Deal, and in many ways unfriendly.

Democrats, and quite a few Israelis, including Oren, didn't like Netanyahu speaking in Congress over Obama's opposition, but Rice saw it as a racist move: “In her view, the Israeli leader did everything but ‘use the N-word in describing the president.’ ”

I imagine all of Biden's running mates are at some level in favor of the Iran Deal and would have opposed Netanyahu speaking in Congress. What's unique is that there's a history here, and it's tense.

Welp, turns out it’s not just this clip where he’s enabling antisemitism:
For those of you (like me) who don't know a lot about old-school rap, the man Cannon is interviewing is called Professor Griff, who was kicked out of Public Enemy for making antisemitic statements. He is a member of Nation of Islam. Turns out Cannon also sympathizes with NOI.

#BREAKING Edelstein resigns as Knesset Speaker
Edelstein says the Supreme Court's decision this week "is not based on the language of the law but on a one-sided extreme interpretation" and is "destroying the Knesset's work...undermining the foundations of Israeli democracy."
"I will not let Israel deteriorate into anarchy," Edelstein says. "I will not be part of a civil war. I will act in the spirit of Menachem Begin, who in the days of the Altalena prevented civil war...We must unite."

The question of the night is whether the branches of the Israeli government are equal, or if one is above all the others.
It’s ok to disagree, but it’s amazing how the automatic reaction of people disagreeing with me seems to be dismissive and rude.
Just to make things more complicated: I think Edelstein is doing the wrong thing and it’s not his job to save the potential unity coalition, as he argues that he’s doing, when a majority wants him out. But I also don’t think the Supreme Court has the right to tell him so.
