The structure seen here is one of the significant places in the history of our freedom movement. Aranmanai Siruvayal is a small palace built by Chinna Marudhu as his headquarters. It is said that this had no doors so that any citizen can approach him. However.. Image
Marudhu also fortified it knowing that sooner or later, the fight with the British was inevitable. He built a secret passage from the Kalayar Koil fort to this, collected weapons & stored it here. When the war with British broke out, this was the last line of defence for Marudhus Image
The palace was surrounded by British forces in the morning & Chinna Marudhu put up a valiant fight. Colonel Agnew who was the British commander swore that he will take his evening tea only after destroying this place. By evening it was captured & destroyed.
Colonel Agnew ordered a tea table to be brought, placed in the center of the ruined palace & had his evening tea & biscuits.

However they couldn’t capture Marudhus. The ruins of Aranmanai Siruvayal stands as a testimony to Chinna Marudhus greatness.
