I have stated repeatedly that unless Purpose is clearly articulated the business model risks failure. For SAA the fundamental question is whether the exercise aims at "restructuring" current de facto dead SAA OR "recreating" a new SAA out of ashes of SAA?
The former is irrational uder current and foreseeable operating context. The imposition of pre-fixed labour cost of 3000 employees is a death knell.
WRT the latter, everything must be based on a greenfield approach. Therefore imposition of pre-fixed labour
costs renders the exercise irrational. Until market studies are complete and a fitting route network is determined, a business model can't be fixed. Traffic projections in the BRP model are unscientific and baseless.
These problems arise because Purpose
is undefined. What emerges is that the whole concept is designed to please trade unions. This is untenable but not surprising. The biggest concern is that close to R20 billion is at stake here. We need serious reality check
