The tireless folks at @WyomingPBS have another debate tonight at 7 p.m. This one with the Democratic candidates for U.S. House @GreyBull4WY and @BeachforWyoming.

Link below, and live tweets will be threaded here. #WYPol

We're underway. Carol Hafner, citing coronavirus concerns and a lack of internet bandwidth, declined not to participate.

There will be no U.S. House debate for the Republicans this year. While @Liz_Cheney agreed to debate candidate Blake Stanley declined.
Greybull begins, saying that we need COVID-19 recovery to not be a bailout for big corporations and for healthcare to be accessible to all.

Beach on a similar line, saying we've left "thousands" of people vulnerable.

Calling for a universal healthcare system.
"This is not an economic concern. This is an ethical and human rights concern," he said.

Said we're failing at the one measure of a healthy society: the ability to take care of its people."
Grey Bull calling for social justice to have a greater role in government, calling on her own experience in that area. Also says mental illness is something that deserves attention.
On the topic of equal pay for equal work, Grey Bull saying the conversation needs to translate to policy. Beach in agreement, adding we need to look at the issue systemically, acknowledging his own privilege to be on-stage as a white man. Said it begins by identifying barriers.
How will you help restore Wyoming's economy?

Beach said while we've had a strong economy, we haven't had a resilient one, saying we had a poor social safety net and poor supply chains. We need to move past a "neoliberal" policy, and aim for resilience.
Grey Bull says we need paid medical leave for workers, and that Congress needs to ensure that employers provide that. Says she supports the Ranchers Protection Act as well.

Beach also advocating for a more progressive tax system, similar to what we had post-WWII.
Lightning round!

Federal debt:

Beach: Necesarry, but we should work on it. Progressive taxes and targeted cuts.
Grey Bull: Need to revamp and look at it, allocate more funding toward education.
Black lives Matter:

Grey Bull: "It does not mean your lives don't matter. It means we want an equitable and just society so we can live in justice and peace together."
Beach: This is to bring attention to an issue that needs to be addressed efficiently.
Nancy Pelosi (?)

Beach: Strong leader. Inspirational.
Grey Bull: Similar.
$600 per week:

Grey Bull: Not enough to sustain families, but COVID-19 packages for the working class is imperative.
Beach: Same.

Voting rights:

Beach: Make voting easy and accessible.
Grey Bull (Who has worked on this on the reservation during Andi Clifford's race): Same.
As an aside, this format really isn't allowing candidates to differentiate themselves from one another on a policy front. A lot of similar answers from two very distinct candidates.
On U.S.-China policy, Grey Bull said we need to heal relationships with allies. Beach said getting tough on China through trade war has actually ended up hurting our economy while not being a deterrent. Says we need more manufacturing here, and we need to be honest about intent.
On military spending: Beach said we do need a well-funded military, but we need to be smart about the programs we fund. Said we need more money in areas like cybersecurity and denuclearization.

Grey Bull: Said we need to be more modernized and forward-looking.
And now... closing statements. (This debate was only 30 minutes long.)

Beach said we need to rethink our economy and how we treat one another. Said he wants to care for Wyoming and move it forward.
Grey Bull says she has a track record on creating change at the tribal, federal, and state level. Noted she led the effort to get a statewide Missing and Murdered Indigenous Woman's Task Force.

"This is what I do. I bring everyone to the table."
