The water was a powerful blue when we walked around the slough at Bolsa Chica. I mean it was the most intense blue. You rarely see blue as blue as it was that day. The bluest blue you could see.

The best part of the walk was, for me, when we stopped to watch a flock of Caspian terns diving for dinner behind a dam. Terns will hover in place, looking downward for a fish, then diving with a hard splash and seamlessly...
