26 July 2005, 29 August 2017 and now today. Three of the heaviest downpour I experienced in Mumbai. So many trees and electric poles will be uprooted plus Floods. Some old structures are in danger with such winds. My WIFI down, mobile network slow. So may not able to update much.

Many including IMD warned about this wettest spell. Hope not many stuck on the roads. Could take a while to reach home especially if in South & Central Mumbai.

At least last 120 years Mumbai City has never been directly hit by Cyclone. In Nov 2009 fast weakening Cyclone Phyan made landfall just south of Mumbai around Alibag.Fitting if 2020 of all years could be the one when it happens. Exact landfall would be either 100km south or north
of Mumbai City which is very close. Anywhere between Palghar and Shrivardhan.
Saying again its still nothing to panic about. Just stay home tomorrow. Mumbai has seen heavier rains than what we will get tomorrow. It will be windy than normal with speed of 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph. In some areas stronger gust. With storm surge of 1m above tide.

Why Mumbai got so little rains last few hours? UAC which is now 200 km away from Mumbai coast out in Arabian Sea is stationary and dumping rains there. With UAC so close to Mumbai heavy rains were expected in city today but so far no moisture incursion from Sea towards coast.
That UAC will intensify into Deep Depression during next couple of days so outerband of that system will give some rains & thunderstorms for Mumbai & surrounding areas next 2-3 days. Last night Mumbai got 70mm rains, another 80-120mm likely next 3 days, isolated areas heavier.
So basically overall just normal heavy rains which shouldn’t cause much trouble. Always chance in isolated areas slow moving thundercell could dump very heavy rains for 2-3 hours. #MumbaiRains

A strong low pressure area in Bay of Bengal will give very heavy first to eastern then central and later western India this week. On west coast most of the heavy rains from South Konkan to Kerala this week.
Impact of this low on Mumbai this week bit tricky. Forecast models not expecting any heavy rains for Mumbai till Thursday but Many times when low crosses Odisha that time due to moisture incursion from Arabian Sea Mumbai gets burst of heavy rains. Low likely to cross Odisha on..
Tuesday night/Wednesday morning so there is chance of short term increase in rains in Mumbai around Tuesdaynight/Wednesday morning. Then later when low move westward towards Gujarat on Friday could see another short term increase in #MumbaiRains but intensity of these 2 possible
