This is how you read a result. Start from top.

1. Look at 52 week high and low prices, then compare with current price. It tells you if price wise stock has been bid up or down.

If range is wide, you want to know why? Why would some buy same stock for say N16 a year ago...
2. Look at revenues....is it up?

Compare with peers....

Is revenue growth in line with peers?

In this case Dangote sugar revenues are up 28%....good

Why?

New brand? Gained market share from competitors? Or sold same and inflation simply boosted revenues?
3. Cost of Sales...this is how much the coy spent to get the revenues

In this case, Dangote costs are up 39%

What was last year cost? Why is this year's costs up or down?

Whats sector cost of sales?

Find out
4. Balance Sheet.

Really you want to find out what assets the company has and how they are being financed.....

Liability growth? What? Loans?

Whats net asset picture?

Net Assets should be positive for a mature company.

A startup with negative assets is not uncommon
Then ratios

Low book value per share is good
Higher Earnings per Share is good
Lower Price Earnings is good
Lower Price to Book is good
Higher Return to Equity is good
Higher Return to Assets is good

Its not here but look for Dividend Yield...it should beat FGN bonds Yield.
