@ericgarland A thought or two on. What. This. Means.

First, if you were going to take down foreign intelligence and transnational organized crime despite interference from Trump and Barr, state charges through New York would be ideal.

No pardons. No control over prosecutions.
@ericgarland No safe Federal supermax.

Just Rikers and worse.

And all the money ultimately ties into US banking, which ultimately runs, one way or another, through New York.

Giving them insane reach, especially in cooperation with the Federal government.
@ericgarland But what makes this especially interesting?

A couple points, really.

Yes, the NRA has been implicated in immense operations with Russian intelligence to manipulate US elections and influence us through psychological warfare.

But why *start* there?
@ericgarland Why not start with seas of corruption, easily proven, and expand from there?

There are no political games to played here.

No chance to bring up, "Hey, they're only prosecuting these blatant crimes because of our giant treason operation!"
@ericgarland Oh, people will talk.

People will most definitely talk.

They don't really have a choice.

But there's no reason to start there.
@ericgarland No, there's no reason to let people be distracted by angry political debates.

No reason to let the guilty hide.

Rather, mountains of evidence will bring the truth to light.
@ericgarland But what's the *other* point of interest?

An Attorney General with the authority to prosecute actually moving to. Shut. Down a thoroughly corrupt organization.

Think about just how many organizations have been implicated in the attack on our country.

On the entire world.
@ericgarland Think about how many of them engage in activities very much under New York State's oversight.

Think about how many are actually based in New York City.
@ericgarland And no, trying to overthrow our democracy or to kill as many of our children as possible in a pandemic didn't - it turns out - persuade Attorney General James to leave well enough alone.

And to just let the coup proceed, no matter how blatant the individual or collective crimes.
@ericgarland Being part of a massive attack on democracy, supporting, directly or indirectly, the use of a pandemic, directly or indirectly, as a means of biowarfare against the American people...

Didn't, as it happens, immunize anyone from all their *other* crimes.
@ericgarland So what are people thinking about?

Now?

Is it about personally going to Rikers?

Is it about their fiduciary duty to an organization which might be terminated for vast and innumerable crimes, executed in every corner of the enterprise?
@ericgarland Is it about what their shareholders will do, if they realize they've been lied to?

Is it what happens once the corporate comes completely unraveled?
@ericgarland Is it what happens when their own in-house lawyers realize they represent the organization - not an investor, executive, oligarch or dictator?
@ericgarland What happens when the crimes become so vast, so demonstrable, so blatant, so thoroughly documented...

Your only defense is the fairy tale that no one will ever, *ever* investigate you?
@ericgarland So many compromised people have betting their futures and their lives on the idea that injustice won.

That Justice would never come again.

That Bill Barr, as a kind of Papa Smurf of Pure Evil, would magically make everything go away at the end of a cartoon investigation.
@ericgarland Sorry, guys.

Papa Smurf - excuse me, Bill Barr - has no power here.

Not over state charges.

And while exactly who does what *next* is still in question...

Remember, they can keep going.
@ericgarland Fox News? CNN? MSNBC? Any issues there?

Or with the social-media corporations?

With the rest of Big Tech?

With international finance, all of it tied in to New York City?

Possibilities abound.
@ericgarland Remember, we know where all the money is, by now, or at least most of it, and the threads tying together all the rest.

And what seems like an invincible position has already been taken, gutted, and sold for scraps to provide for widows and orphans.

Pity.
@ericgarland Matters were referred to the IRS?

How curious?

What else might the IRS-CI and FinCEN have in their books?

Or vast, interlocking databases, rather?
@ericgarland How many crimes were exposed by these online networks of illegal influence?
@ericgarland What happens when people with the power to act, start asking questions?

And then bringing indictments?

We're in an election, yes, but Trump and Barr have no direct control.

So ever-more-insane outbursts and threats only weaken Trump's position, and speeds us to the end.
