QAnon is an awful, harmful conspiracy theory, but let me tell you about why it's actually just an offshoot of the far more harmful, well-ingrained mythology dominant in #USA: White supremacist American Exceptionalism & Manifest Destiny
nytimes.com/2020/08/04/opi…
We are regularly fed this myth that English religious dissenters fled persecution & founded colonies in North America, and, in a process which deliberately obscures the ambitions of the British Empire, the violence visited upon the First Nations of #TurtleIsland & chattel slavery
voila, we get "All Men are Created equal." & the Constitution & representative government & the Bill of Rights & <<< fast forward >>>> we bought the Louisiana Territory from France (but don't mention Haiti & slave revolts) & then "Remember the Alamo!" & now we got Texas &
California & we had this civil war where everybody was good but there was a misunderstanding & Grant & Lee & Lincoln & we ended slavery & Reconstruction (was it good or bad, meh?) & then skip a few more decades of genocide of more indigenous peoples & then "Remember the Maine!" &
we begin to extend our glories all over the world in Cuba & the Philippines & we were just minding our business (key phrase "our business") here in the Americas when we got sucked into The Great War where we saved the world & then we had a New Deal which saved America (from what?
IDK, not "capitalism"), then we saved the world again when the people we rooted for in Germany actually took over & started some wars & we had to slap Imperial Japan down for daring to behave like us & UK & Holland & France & Germany & then nuclear bombs (ain't they pretty) &
space race & MLK solved that race thing ("my grandparents marched with him!") & Vietnam & (oh, I forgot Korea, just like we all do) & then our wars become too numerous to keep track of & Berlin Wall falls & damn, doesn't God love us.
This view is implicit in statements like Pompeo's "America is a force for good in the Middle East." (Jan 2019) state.gov/a-force-for-go…
It's in a Harvard University publication, where USA is identified as the "indispensable power" harvardmagazine.com/2020/07/featur…
BTW, I can't even remember the first person to use that phrase. See from this Google Search how many "respectable, powerful" non-QAnon people use it google.com/search?q=indis…
So is it a surprise that some people believe that an international cabal of Satanist pedophile globalists are doing their best to destroy the USA, God's instrument on earth? The Kissingers & Samantha Powells and Donald Rumsfields are much more evil.
