Let me restate my point and conviction that Ramaphosa has failed to seize the moment even when it beckoned him to do so.
When he won with a small majority he should have calculated that the only viable option is to take the battle to the other faction openly

and deliberately. He needed to have immediately taken firm control of the party. (JZ did that but for unethical reasons)
Next he should have insisted that he would not appoint any of the current miscreants in his cabinet. No matter what. If the Alliance

created resistance, he should have stood ground and collapsed the party on a matter of principle. None of them would countenance that. It would have been a step too far. But even if they did, he should have collapsed it by challenging those who supported him

to follow him through the door. A new ANC with credible leadership and ethical values would have emerged. That for me would have cleansed him of his built in fear to take existential risk for a principle. SA would be in a different place now. Mandela did it

It has become impossible to defend Ramaphosa. Even COSATU has objectively abandoned him. I don't think he has the capacity and gravitas to redeem himself. How can he do so when he has consciously chosen to unite the ANC as his primary mission?

This decision alone confirms my deduction that he is naturally very timid and uses consensus as an escape and panacea for the gullible.
SA is in a crisis and faces a certain debt default in a short while. And yet he continues to say all will be OK.

I think he must spend the next 24Hrs digesting this detailed analysis. Scary like hell:
