(1/7) @Airbnb, I experienced one of the most terrifying moments while using a "Superhost" (older white man) from Long Island. He gave incorrect information on his Airbnb page. He yelled at us. Spoke to us rudely and condescendingly. We (3 women of color) decided to leave.
/7 He saw us packing up our cars. Told us we didn't have to go. We declined. We felt it was best to leave. He told us it would be easier and better for everyone if we just stayed. We declined. He got angry. He threatened a lien on my credit card. We still declined.
/7 He blocked our exit. He told us he has called the police. The police are his friends. He has our license plates and the police would HUNT US DOWN. We packed faster, had to pass by him as we left because he REFUSED to stop blocking the doorway and left. We were terrified.
/7 @AirbnbHelp I called you. I emailed you. We needed help. You said you would investigate. I asked if you needed to speak to the other guest for their version. You declined.
/7 I was hopeful. I know what we experienced was wrong. I know we did not act as awfully or egregiously. I know NOONE deserves to be spoken to like that. I know we did not deserve to have the police weaponized against us.
/7 You ended your investigation. The results was that I was removed and my account deactivated.
/7 I don't know what I violated. You have given me no explanation. Your decision is final. This is what happens when you advocate for yourself. I am hurt. I am without recourse. I am not the first. I am not the last. I am #airbnbwhileblack. #BLM@airbnbwhileblak
