Dr. Chughtai explained in Pakistan religion was used by politicians & rulers for their political goals.
But this doesn't necessarily mean that a combination of Religion & state together will develop conservative and extremists tendencies in citizens.
Dr. Chughtai explained that there is a difference between state-building & propaganda.
State-building is done to develop an identity for a nation.
Whereas propaganda is when historical facts are distorted or worldwide accepted realities are twisted.
On state-building, Dr. Mariam said it's not unique to Pakistan, countries do that to build their identity which is unique with other nations & countries.
Host raised the concern about Dr. Mariam's earlier comment about the seperation of State Vs religion debate.
She explained that in the context of the formulation SNC, we have to follow the constitution while drafting the SNC rather constitution has to follow SNC.
Host raised a concern that why Nazraa & memorization of Hadeeths are included?
Dr. Mariam explained that in Constitution *all* parties agreed to include teaching of Nazraa Quran to Muslim students, in a democratic parliamentary system you can't overlook this demand.
On the question of what student learning objectives will b achieved by teaching Nazraa, Dr Mariam responded:
•Kids will learn Nazraa in the school rather parents hiring Qaris or sending them to Madrassah
•Complaints of sexual molestation can also be addressed or reduced
Host said what was the need for including Nazraa, was there a movement to include it in the curriculum?
Dr. Mariam asked is there a movement in Pakistan by parents that they don't want schools to teach their kids Nazraa Quran?
(Host got speeches 😀)
On R.A and A.S sensitivities, Dr. Mariam said it's up to the different sects what they want to write, R.A or A.S.

On Dr. Nayyar & Dr Ayesha allegation of Madassaization of schools & plagiarism, Dr. Mariam said:
• It's a selective criticism
• and criticism is being done for the sake of criticism.
