Marxist & nehruvian distorians have always used Ashoka & Buddhism as a beating stick against Hindus. Especially against powerful Hindu empires like the Shungas & the Guptas. They are often painted as the cause of decline of buddhism despite evidence pointing to the contrary.
Just like how distorians glorify jehadi invaders. Our history books go straight from the Gupta empire to Pritviraj's defeat at 2nd battle of Tarain. Period between 6th to late 11th century is willfully ignored. Why? Because Hindus put up extraordinary resistance in between.
The Pratiharas & the Chalukya empire repulsed a number of arabian invasions during this period. Later on from the 10th century onwards a lot of smaller Hindu kingdoms like the Paramara, Chahamana & Gahadavala would put up a valiant fight against jehadi barbarians.
Nearly 500 years of our history is simply erased, or presented as just a factionless bunch of smaller kingdoms fighting each other. We didn't just roll over & succumb to jehadi barbarians. There was valiant resistance for 400 years. None of this will ever by taught in NCERT books
History of Dakshin Bharat is willfully ignored simply because this is where eslamic barbarians tasted some of their most brutal defeats. Imagine teaching kids about the Hindu reconquest of Madurai & the dramatic expansion of the Vijayanagara empire.
13th,14th & 15th century Indian history is made to be all about the sultanate,lodhi,mughal & other barbarians, when infact during barbarian akbar's time, the Hindu rulers of Vijayanagara & Gajapathi controlled over 40% area of present day Indian territory.
Point is nehruvian-marxists have made every effort to whitewash crimes against Hindus, completely omit portions & episode of Hindu resistance to invading barbarians & finally paint Hindus as villains, even if it means cooking up stories.
