The controlled releases from Pamba reservoir to the tune of 82 cumecs by KSEBL when water level was receding and river flow was around 1300 cumecs did not created any deluge in Pamba river, as some feared.
Look at the water levels at Malakkara G&D site from 9th August.
Next time some one says dam is being opened, first question to be asked is how much discharge is released and whether it will create swelling of river and breach of banks?
A dam can release 80 cumecs or 8000 cumecs, both have different impacts #LearnSmart
Also understand the difference between hit by a car running at 2 kmph and 200 kmph.
Dam engineers of KSEB decided to go with a long duration-light discharge to the river when its level is falling rather than short duration-heavy discharge when river swelling, if situation allows
