I want to share some of the ideas that came out of today's discussion:
1. Teaching children from a young age to challenge traditional gender roles & RESPECT one another
Challenging gender inequality must begin at a young age if we are to raise a society based on mutual respect!
2. The introduction of self-defence classes to empower young girls to defend themselves against sexual abuse and GBV.
3. Overhauling the SAPS training program with an improved curriculum related to the handling of GBV.
This must be coupled with additional sensitivity training for other emergency- and healthcare workers, and improved trauma- and GBV counselling at police stations and hospitals!
4. Adopting “Early Intervention” mechanisms & providing additional funding for Safe Houses for women who are the victims of GBV.
This is central to preventing femicide, particularly in rural areas that lack the facilities and resources to adequately deal with these challenges.
5. More stringent requirements for the granting of bail to alleged perpetrators of GBV.
6. The introduction of mentorship programs where successful women can empower young girls and assist them in unlocking their potential.
7. Working towards improved representation of women in leadership positions through incentivising training and professional development of women through tax incentives.
Which do you agree with? Let me know.

Mr President @CyrilRamaphosa, we cannot have the direction of our country being set by a geriatric cabinet who, learnt their economics from the Soviet Union.
Now is the time to do what is right for 🇿🇦 SOUTH AFRICA. To hell with the ANC political consequences.
Hundreds of billions could be freed up by cutting your cabinet, reducing the public service wage bill & getting rid of SOEs that are running at a loss.
These funds can then be used for social relief, economic stimulation and tax breaks!
What gives me sleepless nights is that the Cabinet Ministers who have collectively led our country to its economic knees over the past 10 years, are now charged with saving lives and livelihoods.
National Treasury is projecting the loss of between 3 and 7 million jobs.
Another model is predicting that the lockdown will actually lead to 29 times more lives lost than the #COVID19 it seeks to protect South Africans from.
My engagement with many South Africans has shown that much of the relief that has been set up to help them, simply isn't available.
Email addresses don't work, phone numbers are dead. South Africans are being left in the dark.
If we don't put our economy near the top of our agenda, and face our economic crisis with the same energy we are fighting this health crisis, we will emerge from #COVID19 having dodged a bullet, only to face the firing squad.
Upon reflection, I owe @GTalevi an apology for my response. My skin has been worn thin by a level of unfair criticism. I should not have reacted the way I did and for that I sincerely apologise.
I have engaged @JRA to prioritise this site because @GTalevi is right when she says 2 years is too long to wait for something like this to be repaired.
The work of fixing massive inequalities, broken infrastructure and dysfunctional institutions in the City will take many years. While we are making progress, it cannot all be achieved in 3 years.
This is what it looks like underground.
The station is waterproofed. Water cannot enter this room. #SebenzaOversight
This substation is built to last 50 years.
But with proper maintenance it could last up to 70 years.
We have many preventative measures which will ensure we save money in the long term. #SebenzaOversight
