The most complex object in the known universe sits between your ears.

Your brain.

Some people on Twitter seem to think it can't change.

They're wrong.

Let me introduce you to the concept of NEUROPLASTICITY.

A thread...

(1/8)
Neuroplasticity is defined as:

The changes in your brain which happen

As a result of interactions with your environment

It changes from the day you're born until the day you die

(2/8)
Side note:

If you'd like a more in-depth explanation AND application of neuroplasticity

I'll be writing an email about this tomorrow morning!

Your brain has billions of cells called neurons

Every single one of your

- thoughts
- emotions
- actions

Uses a collection of neurons called a pathway

(4/8)
Neuroplasticity means the brain can reorganize itself

It does this by forming new neural pathways

This enables the brain to adapt to

- injuries
- new situations
- changes in the environment

(5/8)
I've seen some... uneducated tweets lately

Some think people can never change

This is false

You can change yourself however you want to

A nerd can become a jock or vice versa

(6/8)
Perhaps the most powerful benefit of neuroplasticity relates to learning

Again, it's all about the ability to form new connections

When you learn a new skill or start a new habit

You're forming new neural pathways

Neuroplasticity is the term for that

(7/8)
So the next time you think to yourself

"I can't do that"

"I couldn't learn this"

"I don't know that"

Remember you have the power of neuroplasticity on your side!

You can learn anything you want to!

If you learned something, please RT!
