Lemme editorialize for a sec:

Metro Voice News of Kansas City, MO dropped this article today about what happened at New Hope Bible College in #Eugene last week.

@RNGDave, @taylorgriggx and I were there.

Here's my issue:

- The headline "Oregon Christian college students stand firm against protestors attacking cross on campus."

Unless you consider grown men between the ages of 40 and 70, in "security squads" carrying guns and other weapons to be college students, I didn't see any.

Also counter to the claim that these were college students is the fact that one man, the only one who answered any questions, said that the men we were seeing were from the Oregon Patriots Militia.

When asked if they were officially contracted, he refused to answer.

I need to emphasize the importance of the previous tweet:

David, Taylor, and I were there for over two hours waiting for someone "official" to come talk to us as media was not being allowed in.

They never did.

In the end, it was decided that we would leave. Nobody was going to be answering any questions and it, overall, just didn't feel entirely safe.

If "Oregon Patriots Militia" is Googled, you'll see lots of references to Three Percenters, or III%'s — a group labeled by the SPLC as a part of the anti-government militia movement.

From SPLC:
"Percenterism is one of three core components within the anti-government militia movement, along with the Oath Keepers and traditional militia groups." 1/2

"The reference to 3 percent stems from the dubious historical claim that only 3 percent of American colonists fought against the British during the War of Independence." 2/2

Takeaway what you will from this article but know that those of us on the ground saw and experienced things differently than what's been written here.
