Someone asked me this morning why eggs are generally getting smaller in Nigeria

She noticed that egg sizes are progressively reducing and wanted to understand why.

This is the reason

Farmers are reducing the rations of vital amino acids which chickens need to produce eggs
Why is this?

It's because conventional feed prices have skyrocketed, & therefore farmers are looking for means to reduce their feed costs in order to maintain their profit margins

What's the solution

We must devise cheaper feed formulations that contain all necessary nutrients
Poultry feed must contain at least 18-30% of proteins, which must include the vital amino acids such as methionine, lysine, tryptophan, and arginine.

What low cost materials contain these amino acids?

Groundnut cake, egusi peels, cassava leaves, amaranth seeds, melon seeds, etc
