I was having one of my junior lawyer/student info calls yesterday, and one of my bugbears about appellate practice came up. I *love* appeals - now can't imagine doing any other practice - but one thing it is not is international. It's the opposite: it's intensely domestic. 1/
In law school, I always saw myself as sitting in London and doing all this trans-national whatnots, and using my languages, and swanning around Europe. How my career actually looks is that I sit in my house and type stuff. Occasionally I go to New Orleans and talk 2/
to judges and eat stuff. Sometime to other cities, where I also eat stuff. But there's really no transactional aspect, even when I represent foreign entities.

I've said this before, but law school Raffi would be a little shocked - and maybe some new lawyers are like him too.
*transnational. There is also no transactional aspect, but I meant the other thing.
