So one of the things I think deserves attention is the charisma a community dev needs to do their job!!

Charisma is based on 4 main things:
🏋️‍♀️Authority
🎙️Vision
🔎Focus
💖Kindness

Small thread 👇 [1/7]
All charisma is required, but one of the strengths of a community dev is knowing which to use depending on the situation!

And everyone is stronger/weaker in the different types of charisma, of course.

[2/7]
🏋️‍♀️ Authority (confidence, power)

You already know we deal with the angry gamers/trolls. We need to appear confident in stressful situaitons to not only get rid of the riff raff, but ensure no one panics/is uncomfortable or feels like it'll happen again.

[3/7]
🎙️ Visionary (mission, speech, conviction)

This is the contagious part of charisma - community devs emit the type of positive energy and passion they want, and people "catch" onto this excitement.

[4/7]
🔎 Focus (respect, presence)

Dealing with volatile situations/moods is inevitable. When people feel heard, understood, and special, it can quickly diffuse a scene or make it so they're more willing to listen.

[5/7]
💖 Kindness (warmth, empathy)

So so so powerful for building long term trust and rapport! Not only does it help people calm down and talk, but it's effective for when you need to deliver bad news.

[6/7]
Obviously charisma is not limited to community devs haha, but it's just another example of the difficulty and breadth of navigating the ✨soft skills✨

I think it's good to be aware of these things so you can self reflect and see where you want to improve!
