It would ultimately be in the best interests of liberals and the Labour right to accept, if not acknowledge, the unpopularity of their politics, but a feature of the last five years has been the total refusal of centrists to admit- even to themselves- that they were wrong.
Pretty much every time I canvassed with 'moderates', at least one of them bollocked a Leave voter. We've had years of this from that tendency, and having hijacked a left movement it failed comprehensively and spectacularly to overturn the result of the referendum.
Yet there has been no compunction whatsoever. They have chosen instead to insist that the left 'own' it. This might be a soothing song to sing to themselves but it's not helping them, or the rest of us.
